Choosing the right temperature sensor depends on your application requirements. Learn the key differences between thermocouple, RTD, and NTC sensor technologies to make informed decisions.
Based on the Seebeck effect: when two dissimilar metals are joined and the junctions are at different temperatures, a voltage is generated proportional to the temperature difference.
Resistance Temperature Detector (RTD) uses the predictable change in electrical resistance of pure platinum with temperature. As temperature increases, resistance increases in a linear, repeatable manner.
Negative Temperature Coefficient (NTC) thermistors are semiconductor devices made of metal oxides. Resistance decreases exponentially as temperature increases, providing high sensitivity.
